In approx order: Eurogamer (as neonemesis) Retro Gamer (as megamixer) Official Nintendo Magazine (as ura_bahn) ONM Haven (as darkstalker90) Retro Collect (as darkstalker90) Retro Canteen (as megamixer) Rllmuk (as megamixer) You know no one else ever seems to mention or remember ONM Haven, It seems like its a fever dream I had that no one else ever mentions so I am so happy to see you mention it.... My main memory is that it closed pretty much over night with no explanation. I used to make a One Man Podcast for the place and I had recorded one and started editing it and bang the place was gone. I don't actually remember ONMHaven disappearing. I must have stopped posting at some point and then not noticed it had gone. It wasn't hugely busy though, was it? Just a nice cosy group of exiles who had had enough of ONM and were on a similar wavelength. What was the name of the guy who set it up and paid for it? I can picture his avatar but not the name.

You know I can not for the life of me remember what his name was, and yet I had loads of messages with him , I know he really didn't want me to swear on the podcast which I was quiet for ... The Podcast used to be called Podcast Zero out of about 14 that got made I think the audio from only 1 has survived its on my Youtube channel.... ages later I decided to do a few Youtube Video files using the Podcast Zero name sort of, I called it Podcast Zero F...'s as well its what I originally wanted to call it It was not that busy was just a cozy little place with big ideas that never went anywhere....It is only now talking to more people running forums I realise how big the costs for some of them are. I wish the guy had talked about it and if he couldnt afford it done a fund raiser or signed it off to someone else.

I am Spector, I used to be on World Of Spectrum right at the beginning twenty odd years ago though have posted on other sites back then like Lemon64 and a few others that have looooooong gone. Then Retro Gamer and later on, Retro Canteen hahaha. I have also had a retro chat on discord running for a few years where we sometimes chat about retro games. I need to get Sephiroth81 to come along. He's a major figure in retro forums! EDIT - I've just been told he has joined already!!! We are saved!!!!!! Koopa42 will be delighted! BOTH of us are here!! What a welcoming post, I approve.

Bought RG from issue 1 but don't think I actually dabbled into the forum until I was a member of the Retro Survival one. Then when that got closed down I joined RG and the Retroleague forum pretty quickly after. Retro Passion was next as a nice side piece along with RG until it was eventually kinda replaced with Retro Canteen once it disappeared.

I'd definitely recommend the Retroleague forum. Always fun even if you're someone that only wants to dabble when it's games they're familiar with.

The first forum I joined was Denial for the Commodore VIC-20 in 2009. That was shortly followed by the Lemon forums for the C64 and the Amiga. I also joined SMS Power and Sega 8-Bit around that time but the Commodore forums were my main hang-outs. I didn't start reading Retro Gamer until 2012 and joined the forum about a year later.
I've been around the block on forums for various systems but I tend to favour the ones where multiple systems can be discussed.

Yeah I agree its better to be able to talk about lots of things in one place, possibly I think that cause im one of those people who is not hyper focused I have bits of everything everywhere.

I started off on the TotalGames.net forum which was associated with the Highbury/Paragon (I forget which) magazines of the time, like Cube. gamesTM had it's own password protected section (printed in the mag) and eventually got its own forum altogether. One of both forums died and got resurrected.
During one of the death phases a group of us started the forum NowLoading.co.uk, which we recently (this year) moved to Discord only.
I also joined the Retro Gamer forum (obviously), Retro Collect and others.

I honestly don't know, I got online in 1998!
I remember being on the RetroGaming Radio forums a fair bit before that ended, that might have been one of my first regular places.
RG was my common place for the longest time, I think there might have been a post reset at some point, or threads culled, as it says I have 27265 posts there and I could have sworn I exceeded 40000 at one point. Anyway, RG, and the RG survival forum before it that Merman was on, were probably the places that pushed me into the proper UK retro scene instead of watching from afar.

Long ago used to frequent the RetroRemakes.org forums. For many years they used to run remake competitions of old games. Great times whilst that lasted. Ran my own forum for a while whilst I was running a guild in World of Warcraft (Beers'n'Bourbons).
Used to frequent the TTLG forums until the place got too toxic. Up until last year used to frequent the Rock Paper Shotgun forums, until they like RetroGamer said they couldn't afford to keep running it and shut it down.

I don't remember where it started for me. I was on Newsgroups before forums, but it may have been the Retro Survival one that was first (unless there was one before that that turned into that one), then Retro Gamer until 8th June 2017. That was the one I posted the most on, with 5648 posts. I'm also on the Vic-20 Denial one, and a few other that I almost never post on, like the English Amiga Board. Then there is the gaming league one, but that's not a general chat one.
