Lots and lots of old games have fantastic cover art but some have darn right rubbish cover art... so lets share some here from the poor to the funny to the just dissapointing...
Here is my first Untold Legends the Warriors Code... I just think it makes the game look rubbish and would have put me off trying it when new

If we're looking at the PS2 generation, Phoenix games are hard to beat...

Yeah the Russel Grant one sucks but it is a case of well its rubbish that suits the celeb endorsed pap it was..
With those PS2 games yeah maybe there rubbish but they could have had cool covers, im sure you could have found some art student who you could pay like £50 to do something awesome for your game.

I'll rack my brain for some genuinely rubbish ones later but, for now, I had to give a shout out to Global Defence Force Tactics on the PS2 for being rubbish in a different way...pure laziness!! It's literally (from what I can see) just a zoomed-in version of the art for the regular GDF with a filter of some kind partially obscuring the background monsters. When I used to own both of these games, the covers used to confuse me at a quick glance...

Yeah I see what you mean on its own the cover looks decent but when you see them togther its super super lazy Here is one I think is rubbish, I have never played the game though so maybe it deserves a rubbish cover.

Here is one I think is rubbish, I have never played the game though so maybe it deserves a rubbish cover. I used to be a big fan and collector of these crap, obscure PS2 games so I know a bit about them. A lot were western versions of D3Publisher's games from the PS2's "Simple 2000" series. The company is best known for it's Onechanbara games which were localised as Zombie Zone and Zombie Hunters 1 & 2 before they started using the proper series name from the Wii and 360 games onwards.
They are not great games but they CAN be so shit that they are entertaining to a degree. Many are pretty rare and worth some money too, especially sealed. One I used to have which is pretty uncommon was All-Star Fighters - like a Street Fighter-style crossover fighting game featuring different D3Publisher characters including a Global Defence Force soldier.
Unfortunately, the games that were published in PAL by 505 (such as Fighting Angels) were given new, crappy cover arts that have nothing to do with the original game's developer/publisher and so rarely reflect the game itself. I'm not saying that Fighting Angels is actually a decent game (it isn't really) but the cover is just terrible.
Some of the later (and rarer) ones were published by Essential Games or Agetec and got better, more relevant covers once 505 Gamestreet had fucked off out of the way.
