While I have a collection of other mini consoles, I don’t have the first Mega Drive Mini yet - so would want that as well as the second one I really enjoyed the first Megadrive one, it plays well and its also got very good presentation.

Not for me personally.
Most of these games have been re-released so many times on previous plug 'n plays as well as the Mega Drive compilations that seem to appeared on every generation of hardware since the first one on PS2/PSP.
Nice impulse buy for somebody without a collection or somebody wanting to reconnect to the games they played back in the day though.

I was tempted to get one while in the States, but to be honest I already have the first one modded. Eventually I'm going to add more games and even the Mega cd library to it so I can't see the point in the second one. But hey, if others want to get one, that's cool too.

Back up for pre order on Amazon now, phew, thought I'd missed it and had to order an elevated price on Play Asia, cancelled that one.

Difficult to find a reason to get excited:
1) I don't have any major nostalgic connection to the Mega Drive 2. The original MD is the important one. So that rules out nostalgia and aesthetic appeal.
2) I have an Analogue Mega SG with a Mega Everdrive Pro which has an FPGA implementation for Mega CD.
3) I have a bunch of Mega Drive consoles knocking around and original games going back to childhood. Don't need a mini to relive the good old days because I never really left them.
4) I have the first Mega Drive mini (unhacked) and feel this serves as a sufficient tribute to the system's legacy.
I'm happy for anyone who discovers or rediscovers the Mega Drive through this product, though. This system has given me so much joy over the years and I don't want anyone to miss out on it.

Not interested. Got my OG MD 1 and 2, and that's good enough for me.
Only mini console I've bought is the PC Engine mini.

I contemplated it but never got round to ordering one or anything... I have a few megadrives and Megadrive 2's and everdrives and such plus like has already been said Megadrive gaming is not something I have ever left so it would just be a collectable brick in the corner

Read a piece of news on a site a few days ago that said SoR3 on this mini is censored, even if you flip the language to the Japanese mode. They've basically removed Ash and the entire dock section after the warehouse, rather than even bothering with a sprite swap or something to keep the zone included. Pretty sucky. Thank goodness for emulation and the likes of SoR Remake so we can still play games as they were meant to be.
I know the game was censored for the original Mega Drive release in the West and I'm certain it is one of those carts where you can't access the Japanese version by flipping the language switch on a modded machine.
(I only ever had the Japanese Bare Knuckle III cartridge so I never experienced the PAL/US version firsthand).

I'm enjoying mine - the Mega CD games in particular which the majority of which have not had a release since back in the day. I'll have a go on Desert Strike as well, though that game was really meant for a rapid fire joypad for the machine gun to act as intended.

I beat the game back in the day with a regular game pad - never had much use for turbo fire myself.

Absolutely a turbo fire pad is not necessary, it just takes an age to destroy anything with the chain gun weapon. Turbo fire makes the gun act as a proper rotary cannon/minigun does - and it's really fun to use! If you watch the SEGA Power Tips video, John Cantile briefly mentions the game was designed with turbo in mind, this stuck in my mind since seeing on early You Tube. EDIT: Holy duck look what happened to him - twice taken hostage by ISIS, probably dead. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Cantlie

Fortunately, someone more diligent than me uploaded it.
It was nice watching it again after all those years.

It seems to be damn hard to find in PAL areas, no one seems interested in importing to NZ, the usual suspects that have had the previous minis are not doing so.

It says "Amazon exclusive" on Amazon in the UK. Also they have none left and there is only one buying option from a seller who wants £220 for it. There are a few brand-new ones around the £170 mark on ebay but not many.
Am I missing something here? I didn't think any of these mini things were so expensive.

Sega said it would be a limited run. The originals are expensive too - which is a pity, as I fancied picking one up.
