Do you ever forget that you actually own a Game or a bunch of games?
I was just in the back of a Wardrobe and discovered I own Dino Crisis 3 on the Original Xbox and Panza Dragon Orta... I also found a copy of Loaded for the PS1 in the same place, I nearly grabbed a copy of that from online a few weeks ago, which would have been a waste.

Luckily no, even when I used to own a large collection all stored in different places. I've always tended to know what I have which is one reason I've never seen the point in bothering with one of those collection tracking websites.
Should be said that this isn't the same as remembering that something is on the shelf and hasn't ever been PLAYED lol. But I've never gone to buy something and had to check if I have it. It's just my own personal opinion but I think a collection is possibly too excessive if you get to this phase and need collection trackers to help you remember.

This is the Cupboard in question and yeah I think my collection is kind of excessive if truth be told.

Yes, I own a few duplicates as I've forgotten and picked them up again, and there are games in boxes I'd totally forgotten I had. I saw Galerians today for example. Don't remember buying that.

I own around a dozen consoles and maybe a hundred total games. So I definitely remember every game I have because my collection is small.

I've bought some enormous charity collections from the likes of Itch.io and Humble Bundle over the years that run to hundreds of games and there's no way I can remember what's in all of them, just the comparative handful that I installed and played. I'd imagine that if you're picking up physical games as job lots the same might apply to them too.
It's a lot easier to keep a handle on games that were picked up individually though, even the ones dating back to the 80s.

Well, I just found a sealed copy of Teslagrad on Wii U that I don't recall ever buying. Which is a bonus, looking at eBay prices. Got a couple of other sealed games in there that I just never got round to trying, but don't think anything as pricey as Teslagrad.

I've definitely done this at least once. Excitedly bought a Master System game and then found that I already had it. I can't remember what it was, though probably won't happen again as my collection is where I want it and am not actively buying games anymore.

Yeah, I can imagine how digital purchases can easily be forgotten when acquired in bulk from sales etc. I know a few digital titles that I've downloaded for consoles have slipped my mind on occasion. The last one was Outrun 3D on the 3DS. Was thinking about grabbing it before the eshop shuts and was pleasantly surprised to see it already on my 3DS' main screen.

You have a better memory than me I only have about 14 games for the Atari Jaguar and I forget what they are till I pull the box out lol If you gave me a pen and paper, I can definitely figure out every game I own. I know how many games I have for each system and if I had a few minutes I could remember each game I have for each system. With that said, most of my games are big mainstream hits. If I had 14 Jaguar games, they'd be tougher to remember.

Yeah, at least online storefronts tend to be idiot proof enough not to sell you a game that you've already got.
That's saved me some money on a few occasions, although I've got to check a bunch of different ones on PC these days because that market has fragmented a lot in recent years.

Yup, stuff I've had near 20 years I've not played because I've forgot I had it, I'm figuring out stuff more now as I'm going through and streamlining but I know for a fact theres plenty still unaccounted for in storage so there will also be plenty I've forgotten.
