Any good?
What I mean is, will it be any good for me. I've recently maxed Super Mario World (for the millionth time, give or take) on the SNES and I had forgotten just how ace that game is. Years later I thoroughly enjoyed the modern take on the DS (new Super Mario Brothers or some shit like that).
Is this Switch game in the same vein? I mean proper, 2D platformer, with not too much new fangled shit. It seems to hold it's price and I'm a tight git in my old age, I ain't paying £30 for a game I'm not gonna like.
In related news, I am still king of gaming in my house as shown by my kids inability to max the game before me, my lad got mighty close mind you but 'the yoofs' inability to adapt to the inertia of playing a game with a run button saved me, the castles/jump sections did him in, every single time.
In slightly related news, I've played Yoshi's SNES outing more than a few times (completed it once with all stuff) but it didn't quite do it for me.

I enjoyed it, to me if you like the typical 2D Mario games then you should enjoy it

It's why my Switch library is so small - can't be taking punts on £30-£40 used games unless it's at least 90% guaranteed to wow me.

How about Super Mario Maker 2 and adding fan-created game worlds?
The list of quality stuff available is probably endless.

All the modern 2D Super Mario games are fine individually but I find that they blend into one a bit for me.
If you've played the DS one and want more of the same, albeit with multiplayer and in HD, it's certainly that though.
In terms of value for money, you are getting the New Super Luigi U game - essentially a level pack that uses the same engine - thrown in. It's no Bowser's Fury but, if 2D platforms is what you want, that's not necessarily a bad thing.

Deffo only 2D. Mario 64 was awesome back in the day ...... but actually it wasn't, in hindsight I chewed through it and it just wasn't as good as SMW (imo). I don't think I'm a fan of 3D platformers, again, in hindsight, having chewed through stuff like Croc and that one with the bird and bear.

I suppose it's in a similar vein, it's mario and 2d. But it ain't anywhere near mario world in terms of quality. However in my house it's been a blast to play with the kids and wife. And the Luigi levels offer a decent challenge. So yeah it's alright.

I'm not a fan of many 3D platformers, but I love Mario 64 and perhaps it set the bar so high for me that everything else pales in comparison. I do like Odyssey (especially New Donk City) and there have been other cool 3D platformers like Space Station Silicon Valley.

This is one of the first games I bought for my Switch and I feel it has everything you could want from a 2D Mario platformer. Does what it says on the tin. No more, no less.
