Bought a couple sealed Sega Saturn games on ebay. Used to have a few US Saturn games when I had a full collection of Darkstalkers variants and I HATED those cases. Like PS1 cases, quite easy to break and - also like PS1 cases - can't just be swapped out with generic CD jewel cases as with the Japanese versions. Also just bloody massive to store.
Saying that, PAL cases were not much better. You got a choice of horrible card/plastic jobs that degraded easily, or the later plastic ones with the strongest closure known to man.

Do you know if this is any good? I remember hearing that it was like a Lego GTA-ish game but I never got around to it. I still need to go back and finish it but I remember liking what I played. Only thing I could really knock it for is some brutally long load times. I think these are much shorter on the Switch. I also think you can only play using the gamepad on the Wii U, not a pro controller. I will keep an eye out for either version at a reasonable price (not in a major rush as I have limited gaming time right now + a few others on the go). Gamepad-only on Wii-U not a problem as I've long since flogged my Pro controller because the only Wii-U game I have left is the Bayonetta double pack so it made no sense for me to have it rotting in a box of controllers/cables when I could get £35 for it.

Finally added this to my GC collection. Never owned or played it before but I got it for well below the £100 ebay prices and it's complete. Am I right in thinking that this is the version that they messed up the random encounters and made them too frequent, or is that a port of a different game?

The original DC game has a worse random encounter rate, they are less frequent in the cube one But still a fair few compared to some games

Also snagged Return Fire, BC Racers, and Cannon Fodder for my 3DO.

I felt it belonged there both in terms of its historical significance and the quality of the game.

It does seem silly why Nintendo didn't include it in the first place, but I created the perfect "100" SNES games list for my snes mini, and Nintendo can send a hit squad round to my place at 3am.

Nintendo can send a hit squad round to my place at 3am. I think they might send that robot team from the first Mario Smash Football on Gamecube after you. They have that sort of vibe.

It should have been on there from the outset, I agree....but its just a rom/emulator machine, one which you can add more roms to no sweat to compensate for Nintendo's oversight....and it looks and plays exactly how it would have done, had Pilotwings been included in the first place had the world been a better place. Chrono Trigger naturally had to be added as well. I was surprised they never included Super Tennis, as that seemed like one of those early SNES exclusives, so that had to go on as well. Legend of the Mystical Ninja, yes please. etc etc. Get a SNES mini you old fool. joke x

Every game on there needed to be licensed, rated by PEGI/ESRB, and go through QA to check that the emulation worked and there were no other issues. Even first party games don't come for free with these things, even though it's probably cheaper than going to Konami or Capcom to get theirs on it. They had to draw a line somewhere and I'd have thought that 21 games was quite decent, given the price of it. It's just going to be a rare occurrence that they'd coincide much with the twenty games you'd likely pick yourself.

Yep, I always felt the package was generous upon release, especially as it came with two SNES controllers as well. As for the emulation, its solid enough. Both Starfox games lag a little compared with real hardware (and/or better emulators), and Yoshis Island differs in that silly fuzzy level. Although when I modded mine, I left those games using the stock emulator settings....i suspect you could potentially use another emulator that would sort those minor "issues" out. Softmodding the SNES mini is essential. Great little device though, a perfect tribute to the Super Nintendo.

Not Retro Retro but going in to the old retro collection to maybe be worth something one day
Got a small bundle of 6 Wii U games for £15 all boxed complete, mostly wanted for the Resident Evil but as CEX sell that for £12 alone I am pretty happy
Zombi U Mario Kart 8 Resident Evil Revelations Call of Duty Ghosts Cal of Duty Black Ops 2 Batman Arkham City
Also had a free loose disc of Wii Sports thrown in
