Ok let's have it, 2-3 (more if you'd like) gaming related resolutions for 2023. Yes yes, I could have started this a few days ago but only just thought of it.
1. Play more games I moved house in 2022 and have been busy with... stuff. My collection, (bar Switch and a couple mini consoles) is boxed up pending load of building work we need doing, i.e. to make my gamesroom in the basement. However, I have got out of the habit of gaming in the evening and just falling in to the habit of watching crap on streaming or worse, social media.
2. Connect with more retro gamers on Twitter Yes, I 100% see the irony of this given the end of number 1. However I hope it will actually help with achieving 1.
3. Buy/receive an Evercade I'd normally just buy one but I'm intentionally being tight fisted at the moment. I'd love an Evercade and my bro gave me some games for Christmas, so I have to get one! This one might be a birthday request.

My retro gaming resolutions are going to be with a pinch of salt! I look at my Retro gaming friends and their gaming rooms and cabins and I think 'how the feck do they have any time to actually do these things?!' I'm jealous. Ideas are in my head but I simply don't have the time or real resources to achieve what I want... BUT: 1. When the summer arrives, empty out my garden sheds and destroy them. Build my long shed/mancave. The design is done. Split in half with electrics etc. and alarm/cameras. 2. All of my retro hardware is in a terrible state. They have all been left on shelves in my big shed/workshop for years. I doubt any of it works any more - but I will clean them up and try them all. I did notice the Tatung Einstein keys were pretty much seized - that would be a shame. 3. Attend a retro event and actually spend time playing games. Let's see what events happen this year. I'd have loved Chris Wilkins to have done his last event as a Crash/Zzap!64 event as my best mate would have come along with me... but it was just Crash. Unlikely I'd turn up for a Zzap!64 event alone (even though I know loads of people that attend)... Looking back at this thread in August will probably result in me saying 'well, bugger all happened there then!'

Get rid of most of my stuff. I've got more than I need or want. Boxes and boxes of stuff untouched for years, a big chunk costing me money for a storage unit for the last two years.
Time to whittle it down to less systems, and just games I'll actually play.
Been saying this for a while, but it really has to be done this year.

Great question!
1. Declutter - I have a load of gaming stuff I haven't looked at, let alone, play in years - I'm going to get rid of a load of this, as I just don't have the space - some is worth selling, others need to be gifted or donated.
2. Buy less. I buy a load of gaming cr*p - games I'll probably never play - this applies to eshop impluse purchases. I probably don't have enough years left in my life to complete everything I own.
3. Complete more games - stick with them - don't flit off to another game.

Much like everyone else, I think the aim has to be to make more use of the gadgets I have. The two most significant are the MiSTer and Vampire 4 Standalone FPGAs. Both of these really need an investment of time to justify me owning them. With a Mega65 hopefully on the way soon as well, competition for time is going to be even more tight.
The fact is that gaming wise I’m pretty much converted to being a modern gamer, so my ambitions retro hardware tend more towards understanding the actual hardware and trying my hand at programming. At the start of last year I did actually start on some simple 6502 coding on the Atari 8-bit, but as soon as real work resumed I lost the brief period of creative flow on it. I was encountering some problems when trying to scroll and refresh tiles build up of redefined characters. When coming back even a week later I found it hard to pick up the thread. Machine language, to me, feels like a second language you’ve spent a few weeks learning on Duolingo: there is some familiarity but really no fluency or deep understanding at all. But I’d really like to build on the start I made. Who knows, maybe I’ll get the bug at some point this year.

Some great ones here - many on the theme of decluttering! I've done that too and gone through my Twitter, deleted lots of follows and followers as well as cleared out my YouTube subscriptions, I seem to have clicked subscribe whilst falling asleep perhaps 4-5 times! I reckon I halved my YouTube subscriptions.

I need to sort out my container, far too much stuff in there, duplicates of some systems I could sell and buy things I will actually use. I also want to set-up a work bench there, so I have somewhere I can go when I want to tinker around with something.

I can only echo the cliched "play more games". Last year I played hardly anything. Didn't buy any new releases at all (unless you count getting the Kirby Switch game for Christmas...) and most of my old stuff just sat there gathering dust.
I've pretty much finished clearing out everything I don't want and just a have a few loose ends to tidy up.
Well, I guess I do have two more:
2. Get rid of my TEST PS2 and modded Mega Drive. Been trying to sell both of these for ages with no success. The TEST PS2 has been removed by ebay twice for apparently allowing copyright breach (which it absolutely doesn't) so I can't list it there anymore as I am apparently on my final notice for trying to do so twice. I don't use FB so the marketplace there is out of question. I also have a boxed Mega Drive Mk1 with 50/60Hz switch, region switch, and the widened cart slot. Has an official pad, instruction manual, all the old crappy AV leads + an RGB scart lead. Again, can't seem to sell this either. Any takers LOL
3. Get more into emulation. I keep meaning to pick up a Retroid pocket and get into playing some GBA stuff and emulating other systems. Again, just never seem to get around to it.

How much would you want for the test ps2? Ironically, considering ebay kept delisting mine (I'm convinced that a rogue competitor kept reporting it as I was always cheapest), they do occasionally sell on there for anything from around £300-£1000 depending on model/region etc. I was only looking for £200 shipped or the nearest sensible offer.

I think it might be to get more out of the ZX Spectrum. I have a 48k that has been awaiting a keyboard membrane replacement since 2020.

I've bodged a couple of fixes over the years so it mostly works. One of the things I want to do when I finally cull my excess is treat it to a proper service by someone who knows what they're doing.

My Mega65 is on the way now, I've been told, so already I think if it's programming, I should really look to that rather than A8. After all, there won't be that many M65s in the wild so all owners probably all need to contribute something if the community is to take off. I actually feel quite bad about having a Vampire V4SA and not making anything of it and giving something back.

I intend to sort out my collection once and for all. I have over 150 JP Saturn games in the attic, 3 Saturns and a huge pile of mags for every console I ever had. I tend to emulate everything up to Dreamcast these days so all physical systems before that are bootsale fodder.
