So I figure from the chat in the wrestling video game thread we have some fans here, what did you watch, what do you watch, when was your golden era.
I started watching WWF around Wrestlemania 4,but as soon as I'd seen that I got all the old events on tape. Watched loads of WwF/WWE slowing down after Kurt Angle left, watched a little WCW but not loads, a fair bit of Glow in it's day, a fair whack of TNA now days I dip in and out of both AEW and WWE watching more old stuff..
My fave team of all time is Demolition, it's much harder to pick a fave solo but put on the spot probably Kurt Angle, but I was a big Roddy Piper fan as well. Best manager probably Bobby The Brain followed by Cornette, followed by Mr Fuji

WATCH THE PAPER VIEW!!!
me and the fam went to a event at the blackpool tower to watch the big daddy ... my sister got lost ... the big daddy won!!! my mum got annoyed at me for screaming watching wrestlemania 1, got a few bought ones, and then got them taped until WM24
watched old WWF on scottish tv, then the above quote wake me up from my sleep (it was shown at half two in the morning, i taped it more regularly) from my favourite manager paul e dangerously and got SHOOCKED by NWA (the first show was them showing footage of the samoan swat team beating the crap out of the road warriors with help from the freebirds, so i enjoyed that! then seeing kevin sullivan and buzz sawyer destroying poor wee jobbers with out mercy ... it's not a good sound hearing someones skull crack off the concrete floor!!!)) and then changing over to WCW!
watched both WWF (sky) and WCW (TCM), then ECW cam on bravo
also MMA stuff like UFC and bellator

I kind of miss the old WWF stuff where the star wrestlers would just destroy jobbers every week it made the big events with star against star seem more special.

Was offered some "cheap" tickets for WWE clash at the castle £150, not shit seats either. I have a load of other things id rather spend that on

I don't watch it often but do enjoy wrestling. I never had satellite TV so only saw WWF at friends' places. It was mostly ITV and WCW for me. The ITV comeback of World Of Sport Wrestling was fun a few years ago and it's a shame it didn't take off. My favourites have always been the acrobatic wrestlers - especially Rey Mysterio and more recently Will Ospreay, who I went to see in Manchester for Defiant Wrestling in 2018. The fight came quite close: Also a few years ago, I wrote a short story about a teenage girl who was inspired to take up pro wrestling after seeing Alundra Blaze vs Bull Nakano at SummerSlam 94. The documentary about Paige and her family and the subsequent film "Fighting With My Family" are good.

Watch Progress wrestling. I saw a lot of the UKs top guys there before they made it real big and a few that had that whole speaking out thing happen to them

World of Sport back in the late 70s and early 80s then onto the glory days of the WWF and WCW. Used to love the wrestling back than with larger than life characters.
Sad to see how dreadful it is these days, the bits i see from the modern stuff is absolute garbage, still occasionally watch old matches on youtube and they blow away the shite being churned out today.

I started watching the 1999 documentary Beyond The Mat yesterday. Not far in, but some of the indie guys saying $25 for their night was good money is a bit of an eye opener.

When I did my last Stand Up comedy Gig I got £10 for the night, I was talking to the other comics there and some of them had done hundreds of shows and were losing money on the whole thing travelling from town to town sleeping in the car.... Heck I have never gone more than 7 miles from home and when you think about it im making nothing really.... I use my disability pass to travel but if I didnt have one the bus fair there and back would be £6, add a few glasses of soda and black on that for before and after the gig and thats a profit free gig...
I think we tend to see the fortune that certain entertainers get and forget lots of people are pretty much doing it at a loss because either they want to make it big and there putting in the effort or they just want to do it for the love of the game.
I suppose its worse for up and coming wrestlers since there are less little companies and teritories.

I thought there's been some good stuff, like New Japan Pro-Wrestling, and Defiant in the UK. Lucha Britannia seemed fun, and I wonder if that will make a comeback. Possibly the main problem seems to be that WWE aims to dominate, hoover up all the talent and kill off competition. Without realising that competition is healthy and often leads to greater things.
