Extremely slim pickings in the charity shops near me. In fact, I'd say the last good find I had was Gregory Horror Show on ps2 for £2 about three years ago. Sold it recently for £50. I didn't want to, but circumstances dictated it. Now, it's just Wii Fit, FIFA and Call Of Duty or some cheapo tat on the PC. I think the staff have definitely got more savvy about prices though. The days of finding Castlevania Symphony of the Night of ps1 for £1.50 are long gone. £50?? Wonder if my copy is still at my parents place. Definitely one of the games I'd have tried to hold on to. Really enjoyed that game, and found it harder and darker than what is always described as a "kids game".

I think with both games and films people can see cartoonish stuff and instantly assume its kiddy even though it might not be.

Used to dig through them for Nintendo G&Ws especially, but those days seem to have gone with the online prices now.
Can still find some software at times, but very very rare to see hardware there now. And you have to sift through a lot of PC shovel ware and very common PS2 and XB360 stuff to find a gem. But still fun to do so!

Had a trip to Portsmouth yesterday, quick hobble round Gunwharf then into the town afterwards. Had a quick look around the Heart Foundation shop and found Lotus Turbo Challenge 1 on the Megadrive for £5, so grabbed that. Was shocked when I went into CEX, they had a Nintendo Virtualboy for sale, no games £450!! I bought mine for £50 each off eBay when nobody wanted them! But it's NINTENDO. It's like diamond-encrusted gold, don't you know?
Got my Nintendo Virtual boy from Gamestation years and years ago too , cost £60 with a couple of games!

A mate gave me a load of games, and I also have the 'official' headphones too. I'm shocked how much some stuff has gone up in price, I wouldn't pay it now

Well I knew my patience would pay off. Just randomly looking in a charity shop while waiting for the car to be done at the garage and I found a complete copy of Future Cop L.A.P.D on ps1 for £30. The case is a bit on the broke side and the disc has light marks but it was cheaper than the cheapest buy it now on ebay so I snapped it up. But that shows they're more savvy with current retro prices. I'm just happy to have a copy as I've been after it for years.

It is a fab game, look for a cheap Fifa or something in a good case and swap it that's what I would do ...

Just looked at ebay out of interest and complete is £50-£75 easy. There are £35ish copies but no manuals.
A lot of people would have passed it up because it wasn't £1.50 but it's always good to know what things are actually worth in your head as £30 may have seemed a lot but it really wasn't.

So I now have a copy of Fifa 99 in a crappy box (but that's fine) and a marvelous looking copy of Future Cop LAPD

I'll say. That's what swayed my decision after ebay checking. Plus it's got the instructions as well so that made it even more a sweeter deal

I picked up PS3 Dead Rising 2 for 99p in our local charity shop today. The woman at the counter said they were doing any five games on the shelf for 99p. The only game they had left was the one I got. Not even a Fifa.
