I installed DuckStation and finally got around to trying out Gran Turismo (original). I played the Japanese version for the awesome soundtrack. I only got to dick around for a few minutes, but wow this game is POLISHED.

Mostly replaying Half-Life 2, and also: We Love Katamari Simpsons Hit and Run GUN Ape Escape Discworld Noir How is Discworld Noir? I've ready a few of the books now, but never played the games. Is it a point and click like the original Discworld game? yup it's a point and click like the first 2. As the title suggests it's a pastiche of film noir, with a bitter private investigater, who left the Watch under a cloud.

Last Retro thing I put a fair bit of time into was Metroid Fusion... I have finished it about 3 times but decided to have another bash at it, got 3 quarters through a few weeks ago and need to go back and polish it off.

Escape From Monkey Island
I can handle the hideous 3D models - it was the early days after all. But the controls....oh the controls. I tried to make it play nicely with a control pad for convenience, but it just went absolutely bananas so I went back to keyboard. I managed to get through to Act 2 but it's a slog.
It's a shame as there's a lot to like about this game, like the voice acting and the script, but the control scheme is so damn awful it drags everything else down.

Spider-Man: Web of Fire (32X) - not a fan. The villain choices are Z tier bar maybe Dragon Man (C to D tier) and the game runs too fast so its hard to see obstacles coming. It had a few good ideas but sadly its not as good as any of the Spider-Man Vs the Kingpin versions.
Spider-Man: The arcade game (Arcade) - Love it. Hasnt aged a day. I love the scaling effects and gameplay transitions, great roster of villains and solid combat mechanics for both the brawling and platform sections. A tad simple compared to Maximum Carnage, but I still adore the game for what it is. Pity it never got ported, the Saturn would have done a great job.

Perfect example of a game that isn't worth it's monstrous asking price (has last sold in the £800-£1500 range CIB looking at ebay). Do you have the real deal or were you emulating? Just wondering if the excessive speed is an emu issue or a genuine game trait.

Just wondering if the excessive speed is an emu issue or a genuine game trait. I used real hardware, just not real software As you say, it ain’t worth near the cost it goes for now! I remember the days when it was “only” around 200 bucks. Still not worth it for that price though! I’ve seen more play through in the game, it’s not an emulation issue re: the speed, it’s just somewhat badly designed. Not the worst spidey game I played but far from the best as well!

Lords of Thunder - Mega CD. I'd never heard of it, but it's stunning. Via Anbernic RG350 and Picodrive emulation.

Playing a bit of MAME, trying Aliens (the Konami arcade game). It's very cool, great enemy designs and I love the little touches like the motion sensor when in the tunnels.

Haven't played anything for best part of a month now but, last night, put GTAIV (PS3) on just to chill out by cruising around. I still believe this game is better than GTAV with a much more impressive, realistic, and punishing physics for the driving (he says after spending ages pissing about with the hilarious swingset glitch...).
I like as well how the disc version is immune to updates that have removed music from digital editions (so I have read from multiple sources).
I just really like the gritty New York-inspired aesthetic and pretty much everything else about the game. Don't get me wrong, GTAV was also a masterpiece and I spent an unholy number of hours on it, but IV just feels "special" to me.

Ive warmed to IV the more time goes on... not exactly sure why, but I love the setting, the crazy attention to detail and heck even the plot. Its one of those things that I sorta disliked after V released (V being more varied in missions and locations), but yeah after revisiting IV, I just kinda really like it. Plus I play it on PC, and it finally runs decently now, nice traffic dencity, decent frame rate, and mods. Anyway, most of my retro time has been on Sonic games lately... been replaying Sonic 2 and 3&K. 2 remains as good as ever (I love it), and I love how some of these newer ports added in a version of the Hidden Palace Zone. 3&K is really quite special, I loved the whole lock on tech back in the day, and doing runs in it now as Sonic and Knuckles, seeing those different endings etc. just reminds me how different their routes through levels can be. Part of me still thinks its amazing what they achieved, but another part of me is reminded that the games were split due to an existing McDonalds toy deal basically forcing the game's early release which caused it to be chopped in two.

Plus I play it on PC, and it finally runs decently now, nice traffic dencity, decent frame rate, and mods. Not sure I'd want a higher density to the traffic to be fair...even on the regular PS3 version, there always seems to be a car that turns in front of you at the wrong moment and sends you flying through the windscreen with the force of the impact! I mostly avoid bikes as they are just suicide at high speed!
What turned out to be just cruising around in GTA IV has turned into a new save file and doing the story all over from scratch. I really forgot how much I enjoyed the characters and vibe of Liberty City. Plus - like you say - all those extra details such as being able to pick up rocks/trash and thrown it, or being able to shove people are so nice. The driving is much more detailed and I have flipped cars by just clipping kerbs (a lot of people don't like this level of detail as evidenced by how forgiving V is) which is both annoying and amusing at the same time.
Up to the second safehouse in Bohan now, after the first one gets burnt out, but have been doing the side stuff like Little Jacobs drugs jobs and the Police wanted list.
My only major gripe was I forgot how DARK this game is. Under bridges or on the roads beneath the elevated train lines, it's almost pitch black at times and difficult to see stuff. Some building interiors are complete darkness as well which can make navigating around obstacles (that you can't see) annoying.

Started Majora's mask via switch online. It seems the music glitches in clock twin have been resolved from the GC release. It's been a while since I've gone for all masks but think I might this time.

Pinball FX1, I got it free a while back and it recently updated as it ran really janky and now it works, however it reset itself so triggered the table pass and somehow Addams Family is avalible on it complete with the normally altered areas intact so I've been playing it frequently just in case I can't get it again when the pass runs out, doesn't help I've gone rusty mind so unlocks are taking a while to get.
