Finished Bully and PoP Sands of Time recently. While they're showing their ages and needed a bit of tweaking out the box to get the Steam versions running at full capacity, they had a charm and nice flow to them.
Recently tried WH40K: Fire Warrior, and rememebered why I never finished it. I really want to like it as I love 40K, but nowhere near enough to endure it, especially as I'm also replaying Half-Life 2, and whilke that has frustrating moments, that's down to me playing it in the evening when my concentration and reaction times are not ideal!
Next on my list is Beyond Good & Evil. Did the now usual thing which is play for 15 minutes, then head to Google to try and get the settings right for a 2023 laptop. But so far, love the presentation (now it's not a janky 640x480 resolution!) and the characters.

As part of my Command and Conquer series replay, recently been playing Red Alert 2. Easily my favourite game in the franchise, and really fun to play. Only negative is that playing each game back to back has raised my skill level quite a bit. Why is that a negative? Well, it means that going into the next entry is often a little too easy for a good chunk of it, but then evens out towards the end.
Seeing Kari Wuhrer again though in the FMV bits. Priceless.

Hitting a few PS1 games, and forgotten how much I loved this system and how it just totally reignited the passion for gaming again. Its been a long time since I played through the original silent hill and parasite eve, so going to hit those seriously.

I started Dredge.
It's the first time I've played a solo game for two days in a row in a long while.
In game, I fish during the day, at night in real life, as it's relaxing. I've gone out in my boat at night when I play in the day because it's quite creepy. I love the atmosphere, a kind of mild sense of dread to start with that seems to be progressing, and I'm interested to see how the game continues.

Dipping into Trackmania now and again, still need to find the golds on the first 20 campaign maps to unlock the final 5. Think I'm up to 15 or 16 so far.
Was playing Pang for Retroleague, current game is Pyramid on Speccy so will be giving that a shot this week.

I loaded up Steam for the first time in a very long time and saw the amount of hours I'd put into that game I'll probably give it a go later....

Broken Sword 1 Director's Cut on Steam
not played it since it came out. Really appreciate the new bits with Nico, and the game is charming as I remembered it

Hitting a few PS1 games, and forgotten how much I loved this system and how it just totally reignited the passion for gaming again. Its been a long time since I played through the original silent hill and parasite eve, so going to hit those seriously. The first Silent Hill is so much better than the PS1 Resident Evils for me. The whole game just feels so much more evil, oppressive, and tense. Especially when you're in the school and it flips to the evil dimension with the grimy, industrial look, blood everywhere, and horrific mutations trying to kill you. I don't generally get spooked by games at all but the first SH unnerved me. Fantastic game though. I even think that the dated graphics and camera angles kinda make it feel even scarier today than back then (can't really explain why exactly, it's just something I felt when I last played it).
SH2 gets all the love and while it is indeed deserving of the heaped praise (what a game), the original sometimes gets overlooked.
I have it on my PS3 as a digital download and there is, sadly, an annoying emulation bug where the audio will sometimes randomly cut out, or be replaced by a horrific screeching noise, requiring a reset of the game. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the experience but it did make me regret selling my mint condition launch day physical copy.

Continuing a GTAIV replay on PS3 (I don't class PS3 as 'retro' but it isn't modern either so it's going here, in this section). Finished the story, and just doing all the side stuff now with the aid of some online guides (because screw finding all of this stuff normally). Finished all the stunt jumps, assassination missions, and Stevie's car requests today. Going to find all of the pigeons and fly under all of the bridges next and then that will probably be it.
Fantastic game that has really grown in my estimation and become my second favourite GTA after San Andreas. I love the ragdoll physics, better car damage, and there are so many random little details that I don't remember being carried over to V such as being able to trick NPCs into fighting each other, or cars very occasionally setting on fire when being hit from behind with force.
Of course, I still have the two episodes to revisit as well afterwards so plenty of fun still to come. I seem to remember really enjoying the story itself in The Ballad of Gay Tony.

I think IV is favourite, it's certainly the one I put the most time into. Love the more downbeat tone. The dlc is good, too.

Was in a seaside arcade for the first time in years today. Played some Mario Kart DX which I really enjoyed, despite my seat being broken and jammed all the way back (felt like a chav street racer lol).
Also a Sega sit-down shooter called Let's Go Jungle which I'd never seen before but (after checking Wiki) is apparently from 2006 so way older than I realised. Blasting giant spiders, bugs etc. Couldn't get very far into the second stage on 1CC so possibly a coin-guzzler.
There was also a Sega Rally 2 sit-down, which was broken, and a few others I didn't have time to play but was still happy to see up-and-running: Ghost Squad and a sit-down triple screen F355 Challenge.

Just like traditional Trackmania it's a free download, just gotta pay for access to certain stuff and it's actually quite cheap if you do.

It was Torquay actually.
Was kinda disappointed that a lot of other games had disappeared since the last time I went to that particular arcade. Aliens Extermination and the various Time Crisis and House of the Dead cabs no longer there.
Loads of floor space taken up with penny pushers and scammy/rigged machines full of "rare" Prime drinks, and Prime-branded bucket hats, keyrings, etc.

Hardly spending any time on gaming at all so no surprise that I only just finished the GTAIV playthrough that I talked about previously, ages ago. Spent ages messing about to be fair and trying to spawn an Infernus car - lost both of the ones that the game gives you (one in an explosion, the other just vanished from a parking space FFS) so had to keep activating Brucie's races until one appeared on a grid...took about 50 races lol. Great use of time.
Killed all of the 200 seagulls, flew under all the bridges, and completed all of the random encounters. I must not have done the bridges and encounters before as trophies pinged up for them. Well, I HEARD them ping up, but the PS3 is still completely borked since the security update last year so the visual notifications of the trophies (as well as on-screen keyboard for entering passwords and other stuff) don't show up unless the screen is set to 4:3 mode which I'm obviously NOT going to do with a HD console on a widescreen TV...
Started a re-run of Ballad of Gay Tony next. Only ever completed it once so it sort of still feels fresh and new.
