I've not used it a lot of it but Mobile C64 still seems to work just fine for me; you can assign the controls to the joystick plus some hotkeys and tilt vertically when you need a full keyboard, and it won't forget your settings between uses. You're never going to have a great time running Elite or Gunship that way, but it's good enough for arcade games that only need an occasional keypress. Gridrunner is probably what I've played the most of.
I'm just wishing there was some way to get all the Netflix games running on it. I've managed to sideload a compatible version of the app but I don't think it's modern enough to verify the games, which just crash when you try to start them.
Ah well, it's not like I'm short of stuff to play on it.

We've now got a PS Vita emulator for Android in the shape of Vita3K. vita3k.orgIt's still in early development, so the compatibility list is a bit thin and you can expect a lot of glitches even on the games that work. Also, you really need a fast Snapdragon SoC to get the more demanding games running, although there are still a fair few that are playable on the Retroids. Set your expectations based on how they go with 3DS games and you shouldn't be too disappointed.

Somebody on another forum was selling a barely-used Pocket 2+ so I snapped it up.
I'll be in the club soon, boys.

You're just in the nick of time as it's been officially discontinued now.
The RP3+ is a little bit better at just about everything, so probably the one to get now at least if you're buying one new, although it's a little bit bigger and a fair bit more expensive.

It'll still be fine to run though right, or will the RP2 not get any updates? Still, I assume that once its all setup and I've whacked everything on it, I won't need updates anyway.
If I was buying new then I'd deffo have gone for the 3. I don't really intend to take it out anyway so a larger size wouldn't have fussed me.
But this is my first foray anyway so the 2 will be ideal to have my first taste and mess about with.

I suspect it's just a case of them running out of the parts to make any more.
Retroid have been pretty good when it comes to pushing out updates though. There's even one where you can update the RP2+ to Android 11, for parity with the later systems, although I've not bothered with it myself. Most of the games and emulators are easy installs from the Play Store and you can sideload everything else.

I've just ordered a RP3+ but the RP2+ is still receiving tons of updates. Well, the apps are anyway. I play mine daily and wouldn't be without it. I'm currently experimenting with different front ends for the emulators. Daijisho is fukn handsome 😍

Ordered a 256GB micro SD for it yesterday so just waiting on that. Other than running through the basic setup and installing a few recommended emulators, I haven't done anything else with it yet.
Are there good standalone emulators for stuff like GBA or do all the old systems run through Retroarch using different cores? I might have got that completely wrong...just what I was reading when I was searching for a list of the best emulators for each system and not having much success on a definitive list.

I use a mixture of standalone apps and RetroArch for various systems.
Yaba Sanshiro 2 Pro for Saturn and eXpse for PSX. Most everything else has a RA core.

Cool.
Yeah, I added Yaba Sanshiro though it wasn't the Pro version so - if I understand correctly - that may have ads on it? I was told that you had to pay for a Pro version to get rid of ads.
The guy I bought my RP2 off wiped it clean but in the pics he had I saw a MAME app so that will be effin' fantastic if that works well.

YabaSanshiro hasn't had ads since they went to version 2. The only significant difference with the Pro version now is that the devs get paid.
The free version is one of the default pre-inatalled apps, but the launcher will use the Pro version if you upgrade.

Got my RP2+ up and running now. Just tried my first PS2 game on Aethersx2 and I'm damn impressed. Having a handheld Neo Geo Battle Coliseum is blowing my mind like I'm a kid again lol Had to change the audio to Async Mix to stop the chracter select screen music from slowing down and going all weird and it seems to be okay now for this specific game. Think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this when I get into all the other systems and stuff.
EDIT: forgot to mention how much I initially struggled getting Aethersx2 working. Watched some videos and every one was like "select the BIOS" and just moved on as if it were a straightforward task. Well, I acquired a master file of all BIOS' for all major systems and the amount of files inside the PS2 folder was insane. Loads of different BIOS', SCPH coded files...everything. Took a lot of looking around until I found the recommended BIOS and was able to locate it in amongst the bajillions of files I had. I'm assuming most of the other stuff in there is for very specific situations or to do with emulating via PC or something. These videos didn't even mention that BIOS would be a .bin file or anything.
I feel like such a noob.

I'd think that there's a tendency to gloss over the details of where to get your BIOS file from and which one to use, because it's under Sony's copyright and advice that's a bit too on the nose might potentially attract their wrath.
Strictly speaking, you should be ripping it from the PS2 that you legitimately own, alongside all of your games. In practice, yeah, you're going to download one and it'll probably come in a set with every revision and regional variation there's been; it doesn't really matter which one you use. Some games might not work with a BIOS from outside their region, in which case you'd just have to substitute the correct one. Most aren't that picky though.

Yeah the BIOS I was recommended was the second Japanese revision. The game I tested it with was a PAL iso so it worked okay regardless as you say.

Played a fair bit more of Neo Geo Battle Coliseum on Aethersx2 and it runs really good. D-pad on the Retroid is also very responsive for a 2D fighter which is pleasing. I have come up against a couple of bugs running this specific game thus far though. One of the stages (I think it's the Last Resort stage) is a buggy mess in the background, the Mizuchi boss stage has a strip of graphics from a different stage across the top, and - unless I'm mistaken - the text for the boss battle cut-scenes isn't displaying.
But I'm not massively annoyed really when PS2 is running this well on a handheld Android device. The game is 90-95% fine which is pretty damn good in my opinion.
Going to test out GBA next now that I have sorted the games. Looking forward to having another playthrough of Pokemon Firered without having to use the physical cart from my mint-in-box copy.
